Cryptid Poker
A downloadable game
Cryptid Poker is a card game which combines the thrilling gameplay of poker with a Scottish flair and interesting card game mechanics.
The goal of the game is to avoid getting 3 of the same card type. Players can accept a card and guess if the claiming player is truthful or pass the card to another player with a new claim.
If no challenge has been made by the time the last player receives the card, they must challenge the player by calling them out or agreeing with them.
The game will end when one player either receives 3 of the same card type or runs out of cards to play, making the other players the winners.
Each player will have a unique one-time use item during gameplay. These will give players an advantage in certain situations. Items will need to be called before using and will then be disposed of. These items include;
- Magnifying Glass - (Look at card before accepting the card or passing it)
- Reversal- (Returns the card to the original player and forces them to play another card)
- Guidebook – (Another player looks at the card and tells you two cards it could be (one of which is the truth) and then the player goes)
- Handcuffs – (Player can put them on themselves to skip their turn)
- Disposal Bag – (Player can dispose of a card they have they have in front of them and put it out of play)
- Thievery - (Player can take a card from another player and give it to a different player)
Each card represents a Scottish Cryptid from history with many unique different creatures
- Blue Men of the Minch (Mermen who read poems)
- Dundee Dragon (Dragon from Dundee)
- Selkies (Famous half human half seal creatures)
- Brownies (Household spirits that look like hobgoblins)
- Red Caps (Evil Goblins with red hats)
- Ly Erg (Fairy who fights folk as a soldier)
- Baobhan Sith (Scottish Vampires)
